For Bristol Associate Mobility Advisor Sam Rodriguez, helping people through relocation is personal. Having personally relocated multiple times and lived in Illinois, California, Texas, and North Carolina, Sam understands both the excitement and challenges of starting somewhere new.
In a recent conversation with Sam, three themes surfaced repeatedly: helping others, sharing knowledge, and staying curious. Together, they reflect not only what motivates Sam, but also the people-first mindset that shapes her day-to-day work.
Helping Others
When asked what she finds most rewarding about her work in mobility, Sam's response centered on the opportunity to make a meaningful difference during an important life transition.
"People are not kidding when they say that moving is one of the most stressful life events. The best part of my role is knowing I can help people through such a big transition. From my personal experiences with difficult relocations, I'm happy knowing my team can have a positive impact on people's lives. We really care about what we do. Every day I see the passion that goes into assisting our relocating employees from every member of my team."
Sharing What She Knows
That same people-first mindset extends beyond relocating employees to the colleagues she collaborates with every day. As a subject matter expert, Sam has become a trusted resource for fellow team members, lending an extra hand where needed. When asked what she enjoys most about supporting her colleagues, she shared:
"I absolutely love my team. Sharing knowledge, answering questions, and supporting fellow team members gives me purpose when I log in every morning. It brings me joy when I see my colleagues grow within their role ... or even get promoted!"
Staying Curious
That focus on growth also shows in Sam's approach to continuous development: she recently participated in Bristol's mentorship program as a mentee, connecting with colleagues outside her day-to-day work and gaining new perspectives along the way.
"You can learn a lot from someone who you don’t normally interact with. The most valuable part of participating in the mentorship program is the amazing guidance I received from my mentors regarding both my everyday life and work life."
Her willingness to learn, ask questions, and embrace new experiences is the same mindset she encourages in the relocating employees she supports. In fact, the advice she is passionate about sharing is simple:
"Starting a new chapter is truly worth it."
At first glance, mobility may seem like a process defined by logistics and timelines. But from Sam's perspective, the heart of mobility is people.
